Some JetMai doodles

I love this pairing. With a severe and unhealthy passion.

They would be so. BAD. ASS.

So this is a little plot that's been running around in my brain for a while now; it happens in a sort of alternate, yet canonical, universe in which Jet is not dead, of course. It goes as such:

Jet gets his Freedom Fighters back together, but now that there's no more war and not very many Fire Nation soldiers to attack, they're kind of dwindling. Meanwhile, Mai is on her way back to FN after visiting her parents' home in Omashu (Bumi let them keep it, I guess) and Jet intercepts her little caravan.

Knowing she's Fire Nation, he initially just wants to rob her, but somehow it slips that she's the intended to Fire Lord Zuko, and thus Jet brings out the crazy. In an incredibly lucky turn of events, Jet manages to capture Mai and takes her back to the Freedom Fighters.

Of course, Mai doesn't stay a "prisoner" for very long; she breaks out numerous times, attempts to escape, and is unfortunately caught by Jet again and again until it becomes boring for both of them. By then, Jet realizes that despite being Fire Nation, Mai is a pretty awesome warrior, and hot to boot, and thus is thrust into an internal conflict with his morals and emotions.

Meanwhile, Mai is beginning to like the emotional freedom that she has with Jet's group, something of which she'd been deprived in the nobility of the Fire Nation and being friends with Azula. She also is noticing Jet a lot more, which starts to freak her out, because she still loves Zuko, but being with the Fire Lord means being the Fire Lady which means pumping out babies until there's a proper heir to the throne, which is a little overwhelming for Mai, and eventually she finally just breaks down and lets out 17+ years of frustration and sadness all into the arms of a handsome, weed-chewing, renegade. Hot lovin' follows.

Afterwards, Mai is welcomed as a new Freedom Fighter, and goes by the alias 'Needles'. Yay!

Of course, there's other stuff that happens too, like Zuko's freaking out over Mai's disappearance and gets the entire Gaang and most of the Fire Nation military to look for her. Ironically, this gives the Freedom Fighters something to do again, ward off FN soldiers. Fun times



So yeah, I may write this, I may not. I'm on the fence about it. But I like the idea a lot. I also like Mai's FF design that I came up with. I was happy to get rid of those stupid pigtail dumplings she had on her head, and go with a simpler hairstyle. And yes, she does keep senbon in her hair. It's cool. And yes, I love Scruffy Shirtless Jet. A lot. <333
